Autopsy Results
Officials have reported that the seat belt was torn and not cut. The reason he died was he went head on into the wall at nearly 200 miles per hour. This sudden stop was too much for his body. this caused his brain to rush to the front of his head killing him instantly. If Dale Earnhardt wore the HANS device he still might of died but it would not have been as severe.

The HANS device
The HANS device is a safety brace for your head and neck. With this device the driver becomes part of the seat. The driver cannot move his head back and forth, only side to side. HANS will protect the drivers neck and head from sudden stops. (Hitting the wall at 190 MPH.) Fro more information and pictures of the device click hear.
